50,000 after $3,000 spend:
https://www.capitalone.com/credit-cards/travel-and-miles/

Capital One usually does a hard pull with all three credit bureaus.
If you have a security freeze on your report, they generally will not allow you to submit a code for this report to be viewable.

If you've held this card before, it looks like you can get this bonus again. Data points: 1, 2. YMMV

Thank you for the info -- I don't have banking or credit card accounts with Capital One and I'm not willing to open up a new bank account (or tie up money at banks) in order to start a relation with them

My point is, you can enlist the help from CapOne's Social Media Team. You dont need to have existing relationship with them. The obscure discussion I found out about how to deal with CapOne effectively, did not mention any existing relationship.

Many people have a prejudice against CapOne, but in all fairness, they are much better in customer services than Chase, Citi, BofA and Wells Fargo - of them we also have accounts with.

As far as I can see, CapOne are now trying to get more prime customers onto the Venture and QS.

I applied for the QS yesterday (21.5% back on Uber) and received a 30k CL at the best APR. My FICO is 783 and I put around 5-6k a month through my cards in real spend.

I don't know when you last tried, but they seem to have changed all this in the last couple of months.

Their prequalifier is also spot on.

My rejection letter came with a citation of credit score of 785+. I don't regularly put large spend like yours on CCs, only when needed for example international travel. So I didn't put a high number of monthly charge in my online application, maybe this is a factor in their algorithm. I didn't read FT forum before my application, there are quite a number of FT posts in recent months about rejections with cookie cutter wording for reasons that didn't make sense (to the posters).

Any rule of thumb on time between CO apps? Got the spark about three weeks ago, probably should have popped the Venture on the same day but can't change that now. Is 30 days enough from people's experience?

Do you see anything on the prequalifier?

You could just say you spend 5k a month on cards (or whatever seems reasonable for income / 12 - housing) and see what happens. Not like they're going to ask to see statements (and payment records on CRs are incomplete -- I.e. Amex does not report payments, for one).

Cap1 was included only as an add-on in my applications so I didn't do research (and I have never done pre-qualification for CCs). Thanks for your suggestions, perhaps this discussion could serve as a data point for other posters.

I cancelled Venture in the spring after about 6 mos. shortly thereafter I started receiving 'we want you back' emails from Cap One offering 20k points on the Venture One card, which I accepted. Am I correct to assume that had I called and downgraded the Venture to Venture One to avoid the fee that I would not have gotten the 20k points bonus offer on Venture One?

I don't know what HP means. The $200 was nice since we used it as our card on file at a nice Hilton subsidiary (we used Hilton points for the room) hotel that had a great restaurant and rooftop bar, so we just charged it to our room, which makes it a travel expense, and our whole stay--room, meals, and drinks -- was free. Got about $1,100 in value out of that one. ^ My wife still has a COV card that I'm an authorized user on so I can still MS CO points.

Harry Potter?

(HP means Hard Pull, an inquiry that shows up in your credit report. It results in a temporary (and usually) small decrease in your credit score and will be visible to lenders and banks for two years, letting them know you were looking for credit/loan.)

Yeah, I realized that after the fact. That doesn't concern me. I have a credit score of 792 and every time an app has caused a slight dip, it's always gone back up within a couple months.

Expedite card?

Was just approved for a capital one card, and I have a upcoming trip coming up.

Search of thread turned up nothing. Has anyone had any luck requesting capital one to expedite their card after approval?

Not sure about primary card, but they FedExed an AU card for me in 2 days when I asked. No harm in trying I suppose.
