Any disappointing experience

I meant "another disappointing experience" in the title.

I just called EP desk attempting to do some booking.

This is what I had and wanted in mind:

Book a N class ticket for myself YYZ - HKG and upgrade using black stickers going May 19 and returning June 5 all on CP metal. Then I wanted to use my points to claim an award ticket for my father coming back from HKG with me on June 5 and him going back on June 14.

This is what I didn't expect:
I was told that there was no business class award seat available. I then told her that the whole J class cabin is more than 90% empty and she asked how did I know... I went on and told her I checked on the website. She then go and and say she could request for an economy class award seat for me but not a business class seat, I tried really hard and nice to convince her whether she can open up a U class seat since I will be travelling with him on the return and I said that's not much to ask of from an EP. She made no effort and I was very disappointed about it. I am not going to upgrade myself and sit in J class and ask my dad to sit in Y class.

Any suggestion how I could convince them to do it? First I thought the "guarantee award seat" would apply...then...

So much for that EP philosophy they told us "If it is possible, consider it done..." I truly belive it was possible to give me 1 U class seat since there are still 38/42 seats empty.

What about asking for a Companion travel award. It's not from standard award inventory, and also at reduced points cost.

I gave EP desk a call yesterday and ask for the same thing and I was told by a wonderful agent that they'll try to do their best...

Surprise... when I got home today there was a message from EP desk telling me to call them back. I called back and I was told that the award reservation have been confirmed!!!! I was quite surprise given that the agent told me there's a slim chance. I made my reservation at the same time and will get my upgrade when I call to ticket it tomorrow.

Thanks CP....
