Do AS flights qualify as qualifying flights? I am thinking about heading to a sun destination next month and have an option of flying AS or AA, but the AS flights are at more convenient times.

No AS flights do not count towards qualification. Only flights on oneworld airlines, until the middle of this year, that is.

If it is a CP codeshare, it does count. I was on an AS last year from SFO - YVR and it counted as Q flight.

However, AS flights (both Alaska and Horizon) do count as Q-miles in AAdvantage for those of you doing the strategic switch and wanting to build up challenge and upgrade points in that program. As already noted, if it is a codeshare, the flights will count for Cdn+ Q-miles, but make sure the flight numbers have the CP airline code. (And often, the fares are more expensive using CP codes than AS.)
