There are several ways to Perth. Depends what you want to do. You might consider getting a round the world and going YVR-HNL-SYD-PER-JNB-LHR-YVR on CP, QF and BA (ie. if you want to visit South Africa and go to Kruger National Park etc.). You could of course do more than that and try to get the oneworld qualification for promos that seem to be going on right now (see oneworld thread). Lots of options, need to know the interest and time available.

Fewest connections is YVR to Narita on CP and then to Perth on QF a little over 24 hr. travel time.

Absolute shortest is YVR-HNL-SYD-PER on CP and QF, more connections but just over 23 hr. travel time.

You can also go through HKG etc. etc. etc.

Empress - are you going Coach, Biz or First?

Either case, just for your info (and everybody else's) - check with any travel agency in Toronto's Chinatown or Chinatown in Markham, because Cathay Pacific has really great deals to Australia from Canada. Yes, they all route through HongKong. I can't remember what they were but even about 6-7 years ago, a coach fare on CX was about $500-$900 lower than a direct flight on CP/QF via Sydney/Honolulu. The Biz/First Class fares are just as competitive, costing about $1000 at least less than the more obvious routing !Mind you, things might have changed when the Oneworld RTW fares came about. But check it out!

There're a few large travel agencies on Spadina/Dundas above the TD Bank that can help you with these fares. But because these are special discounted fares, the agencies charge a surcharge if you pay by creditcard! Better if you can pay thm cash!
