Leaving an empty seat?

I want to know, CP claims that if you are a gold member, they will leave the seat next to you empty if flying economy. However, I tried it out, and when I checked seat maps on itn.net, seat next to me still avaliable!!

Also, has anyone heard or stayed at Le Meridien Grosvenor House in London. Anything good or bad about it?

Empress:
Ive had this problem with the seat next to me being occupied even though there are other empty seats on the flight.
One problem is if you are on an aisle seat next to a window, if anyone request a window seat then they can be put next to you.
I no longer trust their system at all. I now reserve a reasonable aisle seat in the middle, If Im without black stickers (for an international flight) I will try to get an upgrade with gray stickers or a smile, if that fails I hang back till everyone else has boarded, then go ask if anyone is next to me, and if they are I get moved if possible.
