Local Calling and SIM Cards in Vancouver

I am travelling to Vancouver in the autumn and would like to save on 'phone calls.

Is it possible to buy a pre-paid GSM SIM card from a local operator which offers good rates for calls to the UK?

Alternatively, are there pre-paid calling cards which offer good value?

Thank you for your help.

Rogers and Fido are the only 2 GSM operators in Canada. Fido is a subsidiary of Rogers. Fido used to offer a pre-paid SIM for sale. Not sure about their rates. You may want to check their web sites:

Can't speak to the SIM issue, but Vancouver has a huge ex-pat community so there are many, many deals to be had on calling cards.

If you head to your nearest 7-11 you'll see lots of choices.
