Thousand Islands?

Found this article:

http://www.usatoday.com/travel/desti...e_N.htm?csp=34

I am going with a rental car Toronto to Montreal, driving nearby. Shall I make a stop? Pass the bridge ... may I have problems crossing the border? Or shall I check out the 1000 Island SkyDeck instead? .... or go strait to wonderful Montreal?

The Skydeck can be fun. You could also walk the bridge for an amazing view, if that's (still?) allowed. I love the small chalet's on the islands. Great sight!

You drive along the shore on the 1000 Islands Parkway or take a boat ride out of Gananoque and see the islands. When you're on the bridge you can't stop. It's not worth it. There can be large delays at the border as well. If you want to do a side trip, you can go to Ottawa and see the museums and capital stuff (north from Brockville). Or get off at highway 37 and go north to Plainfield and buy the best cheddar at the Mapledale Cheese factory store. The ride from Ottawa to Montreal along the Ottawa River is nice on the Quebec side or go to the Laurentians from Ottawa and head down into Montreal. The 401 from Toronto to Montreal is absolutely nothing. Did you consider the train or flying on Porter?

HereAndThereSC & B1:

Thanks! I'll check your recommendations ... I go by car Toronto-Montreal-Ottawa-Toronto. To drive the 1000 Islands Parkway might be a good idea.
I checked in to the Laurentians before and wasn't sure if it's worth it.
It all depends also on the weather .. just hope that the weather is nice end of August.

Want to know the weather in Quebec for Jun to Aug? "Sunny with some clouds with a 30% chance of showers". It's always like that!
