Canadian citizens can obtain a Japanese tourist entry visa at the border for no fee.

That's not a VISA, but only a entry stamp/sticker.
Canadian citizens do not need a visa to visit Japan for three months or less.

With a Canadian passport no visa other than the standard visitors visa stamp upon entry. However, as of last November the Japanese have adopted the American practice of finger printing and photographing all non-Japanese visitors. This means the entry takes a lot longer now and line-ups can be pathetically long in both length and time!

Amen to the above and the eye/finger registration procedure recently added.

Very happy with my visits to Japan so far. Am returning to Tokyo in the late summer around August/September time frame for my fifth year of visiting Japan.

Sanosuke!

Just returned from Japan last Friday. Fingerprint/photo procedures take no longer than a minute. In lineup for no more than 3 minutes. Very efficient.
