Fairmont Waterfront
Hi,
We are booked on a Slverseas cruise to Alaska in August 2008. We are considering a pre stay at the Waterfront in Vancouver for 1 night. Can anyone recommend this hotel and room choice. We arrive about 8pm and require a late check out if pos.
Thanks

I suspect the only issue you'll run into is the late checkout. Both the Fairmont Waterfront and the Pan Pacific across the street are *the* pre-Alaska cruise hotels, and as a result will be VERY busy in August. They may need to turn over your room as soon as possible. I suspect your answer for any late-checkout room in August near the ships will be "We'll put the request on your file, but can't guarantee it."
As for a room choice, any room with a view of the water will be nice. The rooms on the east side of the hotel may be slightly quieter (they're building a Convention Centre / 2010 Olympics Facility to the west of the hotel), but the west side rooms will have nicer views of Stanley park - So it's a bit of a toss-up.
That being said, if checkout is noon like most hotels, I'm sure by the time you check out, trundle across the street, clear US Customs and check into the ship you'll be ready to go?

My Fav hotel in Vancouver. Join FPC for free and get free internet access. Also it may help with the late check-out.
