US Customs in YUL
Just went thru YUL today on the way to FLL at about 7:30 (red eye from YVR). The lineups were very long, thankful for the connections entrance as there were no waits there. I saw many people running for gates and lots of "golf" carts moving up and down the concourse. Is this normal as I usually connect thru YYZ? Also the signage directing you to US baggage claim seems less than sufficient.

I don't have a direct answer to your question, but your story does re-inforce why, when I'm flying to the USA out of YVR, I try to never connect in Canada - I always try to connect at a US hub. That way I clear customs at YVR and at least that piece is behind me.

I had the same experience traveling from YUL to ORD. The US customs in YUL were very long and it took about 45 minutes to get through. We are required to go through the customs at the YUL airport because when we arrive, we just walk off the plane to our connection or out of the airport. I gave myself 2 hours at the airport to make sure I got through all the lines. Luckily, the baggage security line was almost non-existent because the bottle-neck is at customs.

Golf carts - must be a corpo sales meeting somewhere down south and the employees are taking the opportunity (JMHO)
