Toronto questions
We'll be in Toronto this weekend....yeah! A few questions.
Movenpick: I was recommended to have lunch here, since I love Swiss cuisine, this weekend but the recommender couldn't exactly describe Movenpick (which I found quite odd, btw). I googled them but had no luck. Is it good? Is that hard to describe? Should we go there?
Boat tours on the Lake Ontario: Are there 1-2 hour boat rides on the lake? I love being on the water.
For a quick weekend stay, should we head to the Toronto Islands for a morning stroll? Thumbs up? Down?
Thanks.

I have eaten MANY times at the one at BCE place .. and never elsewhere. They are known by both names.
They ARE NOT intimate quiet places... the one at BCE place is like a huge deli with stations creating wonderful fresh foods... the rosti (and ham on some days) is FABULOUS!!! The waffle with fruit is great too.
Watch what you buy as the prices add up FAST!
NOW, I have recommended this to people staying at the Royal York previously only to be flamed that this is a touristy hole with poor food .. well its always busy .. and has a large late night following. I enjoyed it the 6 months I worked in the area.

IIRC there are a few in TO. It is sort of wander round, say 'oh that looks good' and waner to the next station and have a bit of this or that, pay for what you eat, bistro, deli, supermarket combo.

There is another in the Eaton centre. Shop till you drop and then feast till your full.
Enjoy TO. I spent 18 months working there and loved it - even the winter!

Enjoy your visit to Toronto! So much to do, so little time! You can catch the ferry over to Toronto Island and take a stroll there, very nice scenery! I'm sure there are a few "touristy" boat tours that you could take around Toronto harbour. Other than that, you might want to see if you can still get some tickets to the Toronto International Film Festival, and if its a clear day, a trip up the CN Tower is fascinating, especially the glass floor on the upper deck. The ROM (Royal Ontario Museum) has some interesting exhibits, take a look at this website for more information on what you can do: http://www.toronto.com/

We had a great time. Even though it rained a bit on Friday, it was a cool rain. It felt great! Went to the ballgame Friday night (Yankees won) and Saturday at 4 (Yankees won). We used the TTC and were very impressed. Although it did surprise me that the trains start running as late as 9am on Sundays. We walked by the Air Canada arena as the U2 concert was filling up. I was amazed by the "Path". I'm not a big shopper but if I were, I'm sure I would have been in heaven. I just couldn't believe all of the stores and the ever many food courts all linked together. Yet it seemed like most of the stores and food courts were so much alike. I checked out the Eaton Centre as well.
We had dinner Saturday night at Le Papillon and loved it. Very nice ambiance and great service. Apparently they are filming a movie there at the end of the month. We actually wanted to go to KEG but their wait was at least 45 minutes so we went next door.
Enjoyed the big celebration of the new city hall across the street from the Sheraton.
It was just a nice weekend. ^

Glad you enjoyed your trip to Toronto, and went two for two on the Yank's games. The underground city is really a trip in itself. Besides all the shops, eateries, and sundries in all it's corners, it's a convenient way for commuters in the downtown core to get to their workplace, and saves time (no intersections to cross at busy rushhours), besides getting us indoors in the winters on our way to and from work.
Come back soon. There's much to see and do in this vibrant city.
