Customs in Toronto?

Hi all,

When flying into and out of Toronto (YYZ), how much time should I expect to be consumed (customs, etc) between arrival time and when I am leaving in a cab/bus?

For reference, I'll be flying on Chautauqua Airlines (DBA America West). Arriving YYZ at 9:30am on a Wednesday. Leaving YYZ at 10:10am on a Sunday.

Thanks,
Tim in Hollywood

On arrival, you will clear Canadian customs and it can vary widely, depending on the number of incoming flights at that time. You pick up your luggage in the same space and then finally exit onto the street level. I've spent 10 minutes and 40 minutes in there. 9:30 on a Wed should be quieter

When leaving, you should pre-clear US customs and immigration at the airport and it too can be huge lineups but they are (or used to be quite efficient). Again, assume at least 30-45 min to get thru INS and airport security.

It may also vary depending on which terminal you arrive/leave from as they have been doing work at YYZ. Maybe some others can post more updated info for you.

Hi all,

It's Terminal 3 if that will help anyone give me an even better idea of the time expectations.

Thanks,

Tim - T3 is less crowded in terms of flights, so you should have less hassles getting thru both sets of customs. Figure 30 mins on average.

Enjoy your trip to Tronna (correct pronunciation!)

Actually its more like
Tronoh

but yes, you should figure 30 minutes, could be even less if you dont have luggage, or more if customs decides to pull you over
