High Cost for Canada FC fares

Hi there, sorry if this is the wrong forum. Seemed like the best fit.

I book a lot of commercial travel for clients (almost always fully refundable, unrestricted first class fares) and I've noticed that fares to Canada have been crazy high the past few months. I mean, we're talking upwards of $7k USD a ticket for RT refundable FC for what is a 1 hr fights from DC or NYC.

Curious if anyone knows what's up.

Thanks!

I would also like to know why fares out of Canada to Asia is also so expensive compared from fares from the USA. I have never been able to get a fare close to anything like from USA to Asia in business class.

Most likely airport fees. I know Toronto (YYZ) is one of the most expensive airports in Canada if not North America. Vancouver (YVR) is likely similar.

I am trying to get a decent fare in PE or business from either YYZ or YUL to AMM. Any advice where I can find one? The fares I have seen on Skyscanner is the same or more than the fares to Asia. I plan to travel end of January.

I did this trip last month YYZ-AMS on TAP. Paid $550 CAD. The best part I had a free LIS stopover, Also, out of YYZ, TAP flies an A-330 which is a very good and new aircraft, I was not impressed with TAP crews - but that is another story!

Planning a rtn trip next year. The best fares are on TAP and are also available from YUL.

I tried Kayak and searched YYZ/YUL-AMM from Jan 28 to Feb 11.

The cheapest PE ticket is US$1,637 on AA/RJ YYZ-PHL-CDG-AMM

As for business, the cheapest was US$1,875 on TK on those same dates.

Are these online fares the cheapest? I have to fly around three to four times at least an year to BKK and MNL. I have been flying with Eva but don't mind looking for other options on *Alliance. I have a domestic sector from YQM to YYZ but by experience is it's cheaper if I buy separate tickets for the domestic sector.
I don't mind flying from YYZ to Europe and then take a separate flight if the fares are that much cheaper than the direct flight from YYZ.
Any advice would be most welcome.
