New CATSA rule at YVR - No more than 350 gms for powders in carry-on

Well I’m a bit miffed as I just handed over $60 worth of fragrant bathing salts to security. Unknown to me and fellow travelers was the implication of a 350 gram rule for powders only at YVR. . No notices posted anywhere that I could see and due tue the fact I’m running a bit late I handed the item over.
anyone else been affected by this new rule ?

Does not seem to have caused much of a hue and cry given it's been in effect for almost five months.

Sand and baking powder as carry on (why?); I wonder if coal on flights to Newcastle is banned or not?
