YVR-YLW-YVR-... (Ugg)

I leave on a trip to Europe on March 19 (YLW-YVR (Overnight in YVR) - YUL - FCO through Air Canada. I now find myself in YVR for a conference until as late as possible on the 19th. Changing the ticket to drop the YLW-YVR leg will be $1000+ so that's a no go.
So what I'm hoping to do is grab AC flight (YVR-YLW) arriving in YLW at 18:45 and then get on my YLW-YVR leg at 19:20. Questions though for those of you who frequent airports.
1)When I deplane in YLW do I have to go back through security? Or will they let me just go back into the waiting area to get on the next flight (I'm pretty sure it's even the same plane) I can check in online for the YLW-Europe flight so I'd already be checked in, but I'm unsure if when they scan your boarding pass before going through security if that does anything as far as check in.
2) I'm hoping to leave my luggage in YVR at my hotel. I know that I get my luggage back for the overnight layover in YVR, but will there be problems when I go to check-in in YVR on the morning of the 20th and they see that I never took luggage on the first leg?
3) Anything I'm missing that would make this not work?
Thanks in advance oh wise ones!

1. No you shouldn't. While I haven't been to YLW, domestic connections can be made airside in every airport I've ever been to. You should be able to simply find the gate and wait.
2. No, that won't matter. Always a chance the agent might ask you about it but generally no.
3. Not really that I can think of - you should be fine here.

1. you should be on the secure side when you arrive at Kelowna. No extra security.
2. you'll need to visit a counter to check a bag in vancouver. make sure you are before the flight time cut off
3. the only way this falls apart is if your inbound flight is late. Maybe see if you can stand by on the day of departure for a fee (or as a volunteer) to give yourself some padding. . .
