Buffalo has food from all over the world. Ethiopian to Polish Pierogi.
High end: Left Bank, Hutches, Oliver's, Mothers. Avoid the Chop House. It used to be good now it's just "eh".
Midlevel: Gabiel's Gate, Pearl Street Brewhouse, Chefs, Dinosaur BBQ,
Lowerend but fun: Anchor bar, Fat Bobs Cajun
This is just a very short list of many many good places to go to.

Drunk food: Panos, Mighty Taco (if you have a strong stomach), Jim's Steakout.

Drinks: Lockhouse Distillery & Bar (Buffalo's first Distillery since Prohibition), The Old Pink. Chippewa Street , Hertel Ave are two of the bigger "bar streets". Allen ranges from funky dive bar to random theme bars and then on into the gayborhood. There are parts of Elmwood Ave, Delaware Ave & Main Street that have bars & restaurants you can hop around.

Shows: Theatrically you can look into Shea's on Main Street. Music you should take a look at the online version of ArtVoice Buffalo. There are a few museums in Buffalo that are worth seeing. I like the Maritime & Pierce Arrow car museum. The Frank Lloyd Wright homes too are quite nice.

For Toronto it depends where you're be staying for where I'd recommend to go for eats and entertainment as Toronto is a larger city and can take you quite a while to get to one area if you're far across town.

TimeOut https://www.timeout.com/toronto has listing for events & shows going on in the city. The city itself is quite nice. The CN Tower & Eaton center are very tourist popular but lots more to see around the city. I'll be there in June myself for a conference.

Hopefully some of this helps. If you give us more precise info of interests/wants and where you'd be staying maybe we can help a bit more.
