I assume you mean The Hilton Vancouver Airport Hotel?

The hotel isn't right at the airport - It's in a suburb nearby. It's a pretty easy 7-10 minute walk from to the hotel to the Canada Line train that will take you downtown. The nearest station is Landsdowne. So you should be able to do fine without a car.

After months and months of little to no rain, it has finally arrived in Vancouver for the fall/winter. Vancouver has an ok transit system. Often, it is faster to take the skytrain (Canada Line) from the airport than by taking a cab or hiring a car to get to downtown Vancouver. One of Vancouver's big attractions is Grouse Mountain or the Capilano Suspension Bridge. If you are into museums, there are plenty - Maritime museum, Vancouver Museum, Science World, Planetarium, just to name a few. What do you like to visit when you travel to a city?

Ah, good point. If 'hi' indeed equals Holiday Inn Vancouver Airport- Richmond then I'd recommend a car. That hotel isn't really close to any 'easy' public transport.

The last Canada Line train leaves YVR at 12:56 AM. Service resumes at 5:07 AM.

Um,

doesn't seem to address OP's question whether a pass purchased after midnight will be valid all day long.

Methinks not, but what do I know

I don't think it does, because the service isn't 24 hours. I think it would end shortly after purchase.

The 'service day' is about 21 hours long. The pass will expire a couple of hours after purchase at the end of that service day.
