Checkpoint friendly laptop bag recognized by CATSA?

Would I still need to remove my laptop if I have a (US) TSA checkpoint friendly bag? I couldn't find any up-to-date information on this matter.

IME at T3 US departure CATSA don't care. It is always out with the laptop dispite my bag being labelled as checkpoint friendly and accepted by TSA before I got precheck.

BTW FYI CATSA staff are not government official. They are hired security guards.
