US-Intl connection at YUL Montreal on AC
I'm flying from Washington/IAD, United Express to Montreal, then catching connecting flight to Paris CDG on Air Canada. Question is, do I have to re-check my suitcase in Montreal before boarding? I know the Montreal airport but am not a frequent transatlantic traveler.

You must claim your bags and clear Canadian customs before checking into your international flight. Once you clear customs, there is a special area you can go to to check into your international flights. You won't have to go upstairs to the regular check-in gates at the airport.

Correct. Just follow the "globe" icon for international connections and re-clear security.

Anyone have a good sense of how long the US to Intl connection takes? AC-AC, US passport, one ticket. The itinerary I'm looking at allows 46 minutes to make the connection. It's basically just a glance at the passport and boarding pass, right? No reclearing CATSA?

You'll be fine. Just make sure you fill out the CBSA declaration card and head for the connection desk in the far corner of the arrivals hall. No CATSA screening necessary.
