What to do in Quebec in August?

I'm interested in things to do in and around Quebec City in August. I'll have a car and I know there are national parks around. But it would be nice to hear of personal experiences.

TIA!

Walking around Old Quebec, and seeing the Chateau Frontenac was terrific Unfortunately, time was limited, and we didn't really get to go out to the national parks.

Charlevoix region is known for outstanding food. There's also a train from Quebec City to La Malbaie that serves gourmet meals and is something I absolutely want to try myself sometime. Haven't done it yet, though:

Quebec City to Tadoussac

I suggest you drive the north shore (Cote Nord) via Route 138:
- Ile D'Orleans - connected by bridge, a quaint island, step back in time, great for cycling and farmer's markets;
- Baie-St.Paul - a picturesque petit village with great shops/art work;
-Ile au Codres - At St. Joseph de la Rive, there is the free ferry to this historic fishing community, made famous by an NFB film! Schedule at:
http://www.traversiers.gouv.qc.ca/fe...la-rive_18.php
- La Malbaie (check out the Faimount Le Manori Richelieu, casino and salt water pools!);
- Tadoussac, at the confluence of the Saguenay River & Fleuve St. Laurent, famous for whale watching.
All of this is only 3 hours from Quebec City!

Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupr and the shrine there are really nice too, 1/2 east of Quebec City.
