Chinese airline plans to double service to Vancouver

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - Air China plans to double service to Vancouver within a year, thanks to changes made by Canada Border Services.
The airline's Chinese passengers will no longer need a transit visa to change planes in Vancouver on their way to the US. Chinese passengers enroute to the US via Vancouver typically need the visas for their stop in Canada.
David Solloway with Air China says the measure will not only allow passengers to bypass Canada customs, and be processed by US customs while here, it also helps YVR's bottom line. "It represents huge revenues for the airport, because they collect the airport improvement fee from every passenger," he explains.
Currently Air China has a daily flight into Vancouver, but Holloway anticipates more service will be added once passengers learn about the streamlined process.

But this means more N, U, V fares that earn no/50% mileage, and will encourage AC to keep 50% earning mileage classes on their TPAC flights =(
