Question avoiding downtown Toronto traffic

I like to drive into Toronto from Kitchener for theatre etc.but hate the traffic once I pass the airport. Can I park my car at the Islington St. station and take a subway to Union Station or should I park at Yorkdale Mall and take subway? Unfortunately Go train from Milton doesn't work schedule wise and I want to avoid taking bus. Any other suggestions?

For the entertainment district or downtown downtown Yorkdale is preferable for you do not have to change train.
But Yorkdale is quite busy and there is major expansion plans on the way. My choice is Downsview station at the end of the University/Spadina line. They have communter parking lot. Just head up Allan Rd N to the Parking entrance.

I used to park at Kipling GO / subway with relative ease in the evening / weekend. Yorkdale is a longer drive, but just the one line down. Depending on traffic, you can get stuck over the top of the city, so for that reason 401 to 427 to Kipling is sometimes the better bet (or Islington, but Kipling is closer).

Between Islington and Yorkdale, it is much easier to find "free" parking at Yorkdale. Even the TTC lot at Yorkdale only charges during 5am-9:30am on weekdays while the other times are free.
