Smoking in Quebec City

It's been suggested that Quebec is more lax in enforcing smoke-free laws than other provinces. I haven't been anywhere in Quebec in several years, but will be in Quebec City next year. Any recent experience with smoking in restaurants, etc.?

Smoking inside a restaurant: not permitted. Smoking on an outdoor restaurant patio: usually permitted.

Yes, but is it enforced? I know it is in Vancouver and Toronto, but I have not been to Quebec City and have heard that they are not keen on enforcement.

Very little chance that you will be allowed to smoke in a restaurant in QC.

Never smelt any hint of smoke inside any restaurant in Montreal last October, including a couple very popular with the Quebecois.

I spent last week in Quebec City, Tadoussac and La Malbaie. There was generally no smoking indoors, but often outdoors. We were struck by how many Quebecois are smokers. Much more than we're used to on the left coast.

Exactly our experience in QC, Tadoussac and Montreal, where we spent 3 weeks in July. We wound up eating inside a lot more than we would have liked.
