YYZ curfew lifted?

I see a few of the US west coast - YYZ red eyes being retimed to land at around 530-540am time frame in May. Did they lift the curfew?

Nothing new here. The GTAA does not respect the curfew.

Doesn't look like it. The airport has a small number of slots per half year (the winter '09-10 was 175) which can be used for flights. Based on the current pattern, a number of charter airlines from Mexico or the Caribbean seem to use the wee hours to fly in. So if these charters switch to a different flying pattern for European trips, then other flights can fill in the gaps.

yes they do they just changed it.

PS there should be NO curfew! Its a stupid restriction!
If you dont like the noise around the airport, move, close the windows, or ... did you move there for.

my uncle flew in from the UK on Transat once at 3 am... but it wasnt scheduled to arrive at 3am, It was delayed in the UK for mechanical reasons or something.. I dont think planes arriving at 3am is good. I dont enjoy having to pick someone up at that time! And even at 3am those damn security people wave you off when you try to wait outside in your car!!!

YYZ Night Curfew Relaxed/Lifted?

I have a KE flight YYZ-ICN next month which at time of booking showed a 11:50pm departure. But checking my updated itinerary it now shows the flight leaving YYZ at 1:30am and arriving ICN at 4:00am.

I recalled there was some discussion that commercial flights are almost off limits to land/takeoff between Midnight-6:00am and those time slots were reserved for Cargo? Did YYZ recently lifted its night curfew or did they somewhat relaxed it? Or are airlines now allowed beyond the curfew as long as they are willing to pay a hefty fee for it?

Anyhow, I'm thrilled with the push back of the departure time as a 4:00 am arrival is more civilized than a 2am arrival.

It's been a long while since I took red eyes but I remember on more than one occasion on LAX-YYZ trips that the captain had to circle as we had arrived before 6 AM and the curfew would not allow a lending.

It's be interesting if this has been amended or lifted. Could be very useful for late night flights.

The curfew must have been relaxed somewhat cause here are some other noteable changes.

1st YVR-YYZ red-eye, now sked arr time 05:53
1st YEG-YYZ red-eye, now sked arr time 05:51
1st YYC-YYZ red-eye, now sked arr time 05:45
LAX-YYZ red-eye, now sked arr time 05:41
SFO-YYZ red-eye, now sked arr time 05:43

these arr times are pulled from the sked around late JUN.

also CX829 takes off at 01:35 and has done so for months....so the KE flight is just following and making it much better for connections in Asia.

The YEG-YYZ flight changed from a 00:30 (if I remember correctly) departure to the current 00:15 departure sometime near the end of April. I took the YEG-YYZ (arr. 05:51) yesterday. The plane boarded quite quickly and the pilot announced that we wouldn't be pushing back for 5-10 more minutes due to the arrival curfew in YYZ. We pushed back about 5 min early (after waiting about 10 minutes as the pilot said we would) and were on the YYZ runway by about 05:45.

AC 093 coming from SCL is scheduled for arrival in YYZ at 0535am. Yesterday we were on the ground at 0510am.

It might depend on the approach and runway that is being used. I know that when landing from the west, the approach is over industrial and commercial properties.

However, N,S, and E approaches fly over some residential properties.

I live a good distance from YYZ but am on the approach route used on most days (when there is a west wind). The earlier start means that those arrivals are flying over my house well before those gate arrival times. Thanks for the bad news.

Did you build or purchase your house prior to 1939? If not than you really don't have anything to complain about since the airport would have been there when you built/bought.

If you did buy before 1939, then B!tch away!
