Xmas 2009 - things to do in Ottawa
Hi All
I'll be spending the holidays with family in Ottawa and I was looking for some suggestions for Xmas related activities. I've done searches using google but I find that the info is limited. And when I ask my family for suggestions they seem rather uncertain about the offerings. Surely there are plenty of performances, etc available?
Specifically I'll be in our Nation's Capital from around Dec 17th to Dec 29th. I was looking for a nice Xmas concert (maybe acapella music) or some plays?
Suggestions or a website with links to activies would be appreciated.
Thanks

The National Arts Centre has a very diverse program, some of which might appeal to you. http://www.nac-cna.ca/en/
If you are a church goer (and even if you are not), the Notre Dame Basilica will have an amazing choir for its Christmas Masses (Roman Catholic). http://www.notredameottawa.com/ If you are simply interested in doing the tourist thing, even a brief look in to the Cathedral while walking in the neighbourhood is recommended.
Going for a meal, or tea at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier Hotel would also be a nice way to spend dome time while in Ottawa. They will also have a wonderful lobby full of decorated Christmas Trees. http://www.fairmont.com/laurier/Gues...n2009-2010.htm
The downtown will have lots and lots of Christmas lights, including at Parliament Hill. http://www.canadascapital.gc.ca/bins...&lang=1&bhcp=1
Here is a listing of some other events... http://www.capitaleducanada.gc.ca/bi...&newSearch=yes
Safe travels and enjoy your time in Ottawa.
