five hours in lax
title says it all...any suggestions?
it's after a red eye, so i'll be there from 6a to 11a prior to my lax-fra trip (rather long day.) i don't recall ever seeing a shower at the rcc in the domestic terminal, is there another one?

This is the FAQ page from the official LAX website. There are no public shower facilities there at all. They say there are gyms in the area so if you're a member of one you could cab it over.

This is a lot of work, but you can take a shower right at LAX.
Head over to Terminal 4 and buy a refundable ticket on American Airlines. Make it a round trip to lessen your chances for special harassment at security. Tickets to Las Vegas are generally the cheapest refundable ones you can get from LAX on AA. Once you've bought your ticket, have the agent check you in for the Vegas flight and print your boarding pass.
Once you've got your boarding pass in hand, go through security and into the AA Admirals Club. You can buy a day pass for $50. The Admirals Club is much larger and better appointed than the LAX RCC, and has several showers available.
Take your shower, and enjoy the atmosphere in the Admirals Club until it's time to head back to Terminal 6/7/8 for your United flight. Call AA any time and refund your unused ticket to Vegas.
It's too bad the domestic RCCs don't have showers.

For around $50, you could probably get a *** star LAX hotel on Priceline (w/ shuttle).
Note: this would be for the "night" before your arrival, and you would definitely want to call the front desk to inform them that you'll be checking in really late.

For $17, call SHOPPER SHUTTLE -- 310/696-6055. Their website is http://ShopperShuttle.com -- that's a roundtrip shuttle to go to a grocery / mall / beach (for a free shower) / hotel.

Bid $40 for a 3-star hotel near LAX (around $50 with tax) and you'll probably get the Sheraton or the Marriott. As dhuey said, be sure to call the night before so they won't cancel you as a "no-show" and once you arrive at LAX, hop on the shuttle and head to your room for a shower, nap, or TV.
