And the latest insult from Budget...

As a very frequent renter (364 days out of the year), I'm well aware that off airport locations frequently do not participate in certain promotions. But those off airport locations have ALWAYS provided miles for the basic rental. Well, when I noticed I had not received my miles for my last 2 rentals at an off airport location in the San Jose area, I emailed customer service and after the usual delay, got the usual non-response. I emailed again and got the usual response that one must allow 90 days for any miles to post. Then out of the blue I got an email that said the off airport location does not provide miles. That was news to me since I've rented from that location not infrequently and have received Southwest, Delta, etc. miles.

I contacted the off airport site and they professed not to know anything about it, eg that they no longer offered ANY miles. They contacted their district manager and were told, yes, that is true.

Obviously I more than a little ticked. During the reservation process, no where was it indicated that anything had changed.

Just another episode of "wonderful" customer service.

My neighborhood Budget Car and Truck seemed to always be run by the same two rude people. They were always overbooking specialty vehicles, and so were constantly stressed. Then a third person suddenly appeared, apparently the manager, who seems very nice. Maybe they had some complaints. By contrast, the airport Budget was consistently polite.

That's why it's called "Budget", not "Great Service" or "Good Value".

In all seriousness NOTHING that company does surprises me.

Randix,

Thanks for that info.. I just joined flyertalk and starting to travel more and more with my business. I'm having the same problem with budget right now. They have not replied to any of my emails and have not posted my miles for a Phoenix and West Palm Beach trip.

Think it's about time to find a new car rental place.

I don't get any miles when I rent from Avis off-airport locations either. And of course no miles from Enterprise, regardless of location. So just be careful as you look for another car rental option.

Update...

Since I started this thread with my vent, thought I'd provide you with an update.

After being told by Budget customer service that the non-airport Budget location I rented from no longer gives ANY miles (not even the base miles), and that therefore, I would get no miles for my past rentals, I wrote the Vice President of Avis Budget. Today I see I received full miles for 2 of my older rentals; I'm waiting on 2 additional more recent rentals from that particular location.

So my thanks to the Vice President for responding to my letter. Today I received a written acknowledgment.
