Intermediate SUV 4WD/AWD?

I just reserved an intermediate SUV at SLC in February with the description:

"FORD ESCAPE 4WD
or similar
intermediate SUV automatic air conditioned smoke-free vehicle"

Based on the 4WD note, can I count on getting a 4WD/AWD vehicle? Or is that a meaningless non-promise and it's still luck of the draw?

I looked at the Avis fleet listing, but it has no indication of whether the vehicles are 4WD/AWD? Anybody know whether this class is generally 4WD/AWD?

Pure luck. You can still ask them nicely if they can give you a 4WD.

I did it once with a Explorer and they didn't even hesitate to change it for a 4WD even if it was a class above.

Thanks Redwood. I've requested a 4WD, we'll see what happens at pickup.
