Dragonair is most certainly NOT an LCC and it is Hong Kong-based, not mainland China (yes there is a difference). Mainland-based Juneyao is also not really an LCC though it's privately owned and often has cheaper fares than the competition so I guess it's how you split hairs. OK (Okay) Airlines and Lucky Air could probably similarly be considered China LCC's.

1. JetLite is part of JetAirways (9W) and is the post-merger name of Air Sahara, an airline which was an AA frequent flyer program partner and had other interline relationships with AA. At most (or is it all?) airports in India, Jet passengers are Jet passengers for check-in and various other purposes whether "JetLite", "JetKonnect" or Jet Airways.
The natural home for discussion about "JetLite" and its relatives has been in the Airlines of India forum since that forum was created on FT.
2. PIA is the major national flag carrier for the country with the 6th largest population on the planet. [Only China, India, the US, Indonesia and Brazil have more people than Pakistan.] PIA has a FFP, IIRC.

No actually, we're talking about two. Aviation authorities, standards, regulations, pricing, customer service policies and attitudes, etc. are different. This is fact, regardless of how you see things politically.

Yeah, China - one country, two systems, still = one country.

....also differences in consumer recourse and avenues for redress, in case of disputes with Contract of Carriage or perceived ill-treatment by an airline. These are the sorts of things that matter to many travelers, whether on mainline carriers or LCC's.

Probably should add a few to the list... granted not all of them are in operations yet but they've all been approved by the regulatory agencies (unlike Jetstar HK for example). And since the original list includes AirAsia Korea which is still not in service, I don't see any reason not to include the following new airlines, all of which are supposed to begin operation in 2014:
TigerAir Taiwan, NokScoot, Thai VietJet, Thai AirAsiaX: http://centreforaviation.com/analysi...-sector-144590
and V-Air - http://centreforaviation.com/news/tr...y-v-air-301898
Also, didn't HK Express change its business model to LCC? They now charge for on board food and checked bags: http://www.hkexpress.com/zh-hk/plan/ourfares/fees.aspx
Ironically the change to LCC came on the same week this list was initially put together. http://centreforaviation.com/profile.../hk-express-uo

TigerAir Taiwan commenced operation in September 2014.
And there is currently no AirAsia Japan...
