How will the cancellation of this route (LGW-JFK) impact connections from the USA to BA destinations only flown from LGW (like MLE and SSH)? Is there any way of avoiding changing airports?

And was the service primarily intended as a feeder for ex-LGW routes, or was BA expecting a large number of O&D customers too? Was the tanking economy the main reason for axing the route, or another reason instead?

It sure as hell wasn't because they wanted to reinstate MAN-JFK ;)

Darn.

Been using this flight as it is more convenient than Heathrow from my home. Despite the bucket and spade feel that Gatwick North terminal has slowly acquired since I first used it many years ago, ground crew and cabin crew are excellent and seem more consistent than at Heathrow.

Very much understand though - last flight from there had a full WT with schoolchildren in an excursion or two from Italy & France to NY (so clearly very few on full fare), and empty up front.

Pity.
