You would have thought they would have put a few more on ice knowing that there was bound to have been a few Fters in the lounge today

Oh well, I get to miss seeing T5B ... my flight to NRT has moved from B47 to 10A ... so I get to be bussed instead.

About 30% of the people milling around airside seem to work for BAA or a contractor, all talking into mobile phones and walkie-talkies in a harrassed manner. I'm glad I'm only a passenger.

Perhaps it's safely under lock and key precisely for this reason?

Yes, I believe so. They have access to First check in, Fast Track security and all lounges apart from the Galleries Concorde Room and the Concorde Breakfast Room in the Galleries Arrivals lounge (unless travelling First, of course).

Would at least make some sense if it was.

They were probably desperate to make sure it was still the first flight out despite the baggage problems, so maybe decided not to wait any longer for the bags.
