My suggestion: work hard and become a consultant and generally an expert in your speciality, and in the meantime cultivate an interest and make contacts in global health. And then people like me would hire you on projects and fly you out to Asia and Africa in J There's a huge and growing demand from developing countries for health expertise, and people do value the rich expertise and reputation of the NHS..

i worked for the NHS years ago and they paid for a train fare for me once..the grand sum of £2.50 and that was utterly begrudged...you would think they were paying it out their own pocket!

Stonemason. Back in the day it was a 7year apprentiship, not like today.
Worked on the restoration of Windsor castle and Lincoln Cathedral but spend most days designing and creating specific pieces for the well heeled and famous.
Travel these days is purely pleasure but have been paid to go to Azerbaijan, Hong Kong, St. Kitts, and less glamorous places.
Used to do a lot of work in the Granit City and flew into Dyce more times than any other destination

We got shot of the cattle several months ago - not literally of course. They were sold to the chap who we contract the land out to grow cereal. I finally persuaded the wife that having a herd of cattle as pets wasn't a good idea at our age and she should take up knitting instead.

Yet when everyone sinks into their seats the only people that lose out are those that have worn uncomfortable clothing

I work in finance but don't really travel for work (even when I do it is generally the night before, not directly to a meeting). B***ered if I'm going to dress in a suit and heels, as if I were at work, for leisure travel. I'll be in jeans, t-shirt, hoodie and trainers in J, thanks. Husband is even "worse" as his fashion sense was solidified in the 1990s grunge era and he is regularly told he looks like Neil Young - I like it on him :-)
So I'm not offended as I simply do not give a damn.
The richest person I know, who made his fortune young with his own IT company and has had one of those fancy metal Amex cards since it was launched, looks like a tramp most of the time.

I dress for comfort and for being able to sleep without waking up with my dinner jacket all wrinkled and my bow tie stuck down the back of my seat somewhere with the crumbs and god knows what else.
