Hello;

Am doing a search with the following criteria:
  • Amadeus: Awards/BA-OneWorld
  • LHR
  • BOS
  • multiple dates, within the next week
  • *O
  • C/F
  • Connections
And I get the following error message:

Data Source Error [L]:

"click here [blank space] for more information"

If the reason(s) for the above error message are unclear, please visit www.KVSTool.com to review the latest system status announcements.
Unfortunately, there is nowhere to click for more information (just a blank space), and I don't see any detail on the KVS page...

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Ah ok. Thanks. I'll try again later.

And just noticed that Award Nexus has an error message up about BA.

The [Awards/BA-OneWorld] Engine was down earlier on today -- everything is back to normal now:

There must be an issue with the web browser on your machine -- try closing all browser windows. Otherwise, try re-installing the browser.

In the meantime, please proceed to http://www.KVSTool.com/

I didn't do that, instead I opened the $KVS_AvailabilityTool_OpenURL.htm file and everything worked as expected. Weird. Thanks.

Hi

Just using KVS tool for the very first time to find out upgrade availability on a flight.
I'm getting WS2 and YS2, does that mean that there are 2 seats available to upgrade from Y to W with Avios? YS2 probably means that you could have booked 2 reward seats with avios (which is pointless since I already paid for the flight) :-)
A confirmation would be helpful! Cheers

On the KVS FAQ page, find the British Airways section:

Code:

Z/FS First Award
U/CS Business Award
P/WS Premium Economy Award
X/YS Economy Award
So you are correct in your interpretation of WS2 YS2... although note that you have to have booked in particular (=expensive) fare buckets in Y in order to be able to UuA to W...

Thanks. Our ticket seems to be in selling class N.

I'm a bit annoyed about this one. I booked a trip to the Maldives through BA Holidays and it (obviously) automatically includes economy fare seats. As far as I could see there was no option to choose class of travel. When phoning up BA they told me that upgrading would include a £100 change fee.. urgh.
Availability is as following:

Outbound:
BA 2043 LGW 19:30 MLE 09:40 777 C9 D0 R0 I0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 Q7 G9 J9 W7 E0 T0 N9 O0
gives YS2 on award availability (no chance to go to WT+ or CW I assume)

Inbound:
BA 2042 MLE 16:15 LGW 22:50 777 C9 D0 R0 I0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 Q3 G0 J9 W9 E0 T0 N9 O0
gives YS2 and WS2 on award availability (I may be able to upgrade this one but actually I'd much prefer to have the outbound as it's overnight + for our honeymoon (!) ..

Do you know what fare bucket(s)/booking class you have?

According to BA.com you have to be booked in one of the following booking classes to be able to upgrade using Avios:

Code:
Upgrades are available from the following booking classes:
  - British Airways: J, C, D, R, I, W, E, T, Y, B, H
  - American Airlines and Iberia: J, C, D, Y, B

Availability is as following:
Sorry to hear that...however, you can set the class of cabin in the holiday tool both at the beginning and during the process...unfortunately, like most things, you realise this with experience and see them later quite easily once such a situation has happened...

BA will obviously market the lowest price fares and holidays so clicking on a link advertising that will take you to a WT deep discounted fare automatically...in future, worth looking to see the dates, location and sales and then tweaking them to see what is possible when flying WT+ or CW, different dates or hotels...

HTH.

The Fare difference between N and H will be substantial -- for a little bit more, you can just get a T-Class WTP Fare outright and save your miles:
