Agreement Underscores Carrier's Strategy to Leverage Online Resources, Adding Customer Value and Marketing Opportunities
NEW YORK and FORT WORTH, Texas, Sept. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- British Airways (NYSE: BAB - news) and Travelocity.com, the online travel expert, today announced a strategic marketing and sales agreement that includes access to British Airways' flights and services throughout Travelocity.com. This agreement is the industry's first of its magnitude between an online travel agency and an airline.

``British Airways is taking an important step with this agreement in realizing our long-term strategy to heighten e-commerce opportunities via online sales channels,'' said Pat Terrion, Senior Vice President, Sales USA for British Airways. ``Travelocity.com offers the reach and content to attract business and leisure travelers to London and other destinations worldwide.''

Jones, president of Travelocity.com. ``Travelocity.com is proud to be aligned with British Airways, one of the world's leading airlines.''

Travelocity.com will provide users with British Airways information and promotional exposure for the airline's ``showcase'' United Kingdom and worldwide destinations from 22 United States gateways. The agreement is designed to target Travelocity.com members living in the United States, and designates British Airways with ``partner'' status.

In addition to schedule and fare information, Travelocity.com will prominently feature British Airways throughout the site, including a designated location on the Travelocity.com homepage and integrated British Airways content and information in the Destination Guide and Road Warrior sections of the site.

Travelocity.com is owned and operated by Sabre Inc. Travelocity.com provides reservations capabilities for 95 percent of all airline seats sold, more than 42,000 hotels and over 50 car rental companies. This reservations capability is paired with access to a vast database of destination and interest information. To date, Sabre Inc. has sold more than 3 million airline tickets online and, since its launch in March 1996, Travelocity.com has registered more than 8 million members and logs over 100 million page views per month.
