It's a lot cheaper to try to build goodwill through this, Red Nose Day specials etc. than on addressing issues like cleaning, though.

The grime behind that chocolate when zoomed in...

Well, quite.

‘Here, have a free chocolate. But don’t put it down, the table’s filthy…’

Sure, it's small and it's gimmicky, but as someone who often travels shorthaul Y, frankly, I prefer to get a free chocolate than to not get it.

LX have been handing out a chocolate to their Y pax ever since they made F&B paid for again under the pressure of their nasty owner, and while it's no deal maker, I know quite a few people who look forward to getting their chocolate anyway...

I think it’s been going on a lot longer than that, even back to the SR days. I remember thinking it was the height of luxury to get offered free Swiss chocolate and I’d grab two or three. Now I realise it’s just crappy Frey Migros chocolate. Still grab two or three though.

Those are the same chocolates they were giving out around Christmas/New Year. Must have just picked the ones with the red foil wrapper out of the basket.

It was actually BA who introduced me to Lily O'Brien's handmade Irish chocolates when a small box was placed on every Club World meal tray... back in the day of cradle seats I hasten to add!!

Breaking open a cheapo box of Bendick's mint chocolates wrapped in green foil to pass around the Club cabin on St Patrick's Day seems to be embedded deeper in BA's cost saving DNA than the DNA skin flakes embedded in the nooks of that Club table! 🤮
