M&S T5 currently closed - [Open as of 5 Mar]
Not sure whether there was a thread for general information on T5, but as I couldn't find one I have created this one.
M&S landside in T5 is closed, and it looks like it will be for a few days/weeks more. It was closed on Thursday with the shutters across and the same signs about being back soon. Today it now has hoardings around it. I know some like to pass by after arrival to pick something up, so for now you may need to think of a plan B. The M&S website seems to think the store is still open.

Very much a first world problem but that's irritating as my wife and I were planning to pick up a bottle of wine there on the way to the Sofitel next week as we'd prefer the prices of one of those over the other!

There’s always duty free remember. I don’t think the small duty free shop in arrivals will have wine (maybe champagne) but at your departure airport you can probably pick up a bottle of something at a reasonable price.

It's probably not worth the trek, but M&S should be open in T2 (domestic arrivals) and T3 (international arrivals). There's never been an M&S at T4 (and it's poorly served landside anyway).

EDIT: Better half reminds me that JER has the new scanners so could take a bottle even in hand luggage. I think we'll be visiting T5 Boots instead for food only!

this is worse than the first wing being closed! didnt ANYONE consult with us GGLs????
but fingers crossed this includes new scanners because the state of those scanners had become near unusable with how scratched the glass became!

Thank you but unless we've got space in our normal luggage for something we buy before the airport then I doubt JER offers much that way.

But Short break in Jersey October 2022 got to BA Lounge to discover no Duty Free Airside.
For novelty reasons with forthcoming house guests I had wanted to offer a Jersey wine.
Spoke to lounge staff and I was allowed to be escorted back landside to purchase and then reenter with it as carry on!
it wasn’t cheap. But far better than expected. And much better than the fake fancy premium labelled and heavily marketed brands at similar price points in The UK

Up to 2 litres "per container" I believe, which means there's no total liquids limit.

It’d be a real shame if they just shut it and didn’t reopen. I think this is one of the best things about arriving in LHR — you can always pick up something really nice to eat or snack on that’s actually real food or even cooking ingredients rather than fancy restaurant items. JFK needs something similar but it’ll never happen.
