Delays building 2 Dec. Be calm, be prepared.

For those travelling today and this weekend, heavy delays and a significant number of Euro cancellations are now building at LHR due to weather. Be calm. Be prepared.

We are sitting on BA1325 at Newcastle which should have left at 9.35 but have been told that we won’t be leaving till 10.50 at least. Connection to Madrid at 13.25 🤞

Same here - BA1389 from MAN - apps shows an hour’s delay but pilot has just told us they currently expecting it will be 2 hours.

Due to weather? I live circa 10miles from LHR, weather is perfect.

EDIT: I meant for departures, though I know if the destination is affected that is a different story.

Yes, reason is weather at LHR. It’s fine and sunny if a bit chilly at MAN.

But good news is that pilot has just come back on to tell us we might be leaving in a few mins - ie the predicted 90min delay has evaporated down to just over 30mins.

Heathrow Weather - 02/12

Actually the weather at Heathrow isn't great and living 6 miles from LHR it's definitely misty with a low cloud base. Hence the ATC restrictions are clearly valid: METAR: EGLL 020950Z 30005KT 280V340 1200 0700SW R27L/1300D R27R/P1500N BR OVC001 M02/M02 Q1016 TEMPO 0700 FZFG VV///

pretty foggy at LHR. Low level cloud all the way to touchdown. Gloriously sunny up above. Waiting for a stand…

the inbound aircraft that will be going to MAD will likely also be delayed

View from the AA lounge at 1120 am. Prizes for spotting the ATC tower in the gloom…

We were on the 958 to MUC last night - ended up diverting to Stuttgart.
No assistance provided etc so my advice if traveling today would be to scope out alternative travel/ hotel options in case.
(& we're currently on a bus to MUC in the hope that our flight back to LHR on the 3rd is on)

And the fog and de-icing view from the Cathay lounge. But it does seem to be lifting a bit with my flight now said to be only 20 minutes delayed from the previous 45 mins. And there’s worse places to be on a Saturday morning.
