Compensation for 9:30 delay

Hello friends.
my flight from JFK to LHR arrived very late
and we missed our connecting flight to Tel AViv.
Our new booking was waiting for us when we
arrived to LHR and it was 9:30 hours after the
original time.
i felt a claim and it is more than one month
and no refund yet.
the woman that was in contact with me said that the case is still under investigation…
more than 70 people lost connections from that flight.
i don’t know what do they investigate and why
it takes so much time.
the nice lady from Legal TLV is not answering emails any more.
what else do you suggest to do?
thanks
Lior

Flight numbers and date would be helpful. Who is "legal TLV"?

Just to clarify, have you submitted a claim online for your statutory compensation due to the delay? Have you got a complaint reference number in response? There is no refund as such, what you get is compensation at fixed rates as long as the delay is not as a result of something outside the airline's control.

As noted above, I am not sure who Legal TLV is? Can you clarify?

If UK261 is anything like EC261, this is a flight originating outside of the UK and ending outside of the UK, so no compensation would be due. Only duty of care (i.e. meals, snacks, hotels reimbursed). But since I don't know UK261 well enough, I will defer to more educated people here.

Assuming these are BA flights though, and connecting through the UK, this would be within scope of UK261.

Is there not specific Israel legislation too? The final destination being TLV

Yes, I believe there is Israeli EC261-like legislation which could apply as well. So I guess it would be good to know if the compensation being asked for is under UK261 or IL law.

There is, so effectively the traveller can choose between EC261 and IS5772. The latter is probably going to be more generous if it counts as more than an 8 hour delay on a trip over 4500 km (about £700). But I'm not setting myself as an expert on that - the Israeli Aviation Services Law has some aspects modelled on EC261 but many differences.

My question is how much time it normally takes to get the compensation.

I have a claim number.
I know about the law. (Its Tibi low 3000 shekels
for a delay which is more than 9 hours for flights arriving to Israel)

legal tlv is a part of an email of someone that
is taking care of the case.
but it takes a lot of time.
thanks for anyone that has experience with claims time.

so are you using a third party claims company rather than submitting your compensation claim directly to BA yourself?

It's quite difficult for us to even hazard a guess as to why it's taking this long without more detail on what your flights were and the reason for delay.

As a starting point, was your flight from JFK to LHR operated by BA, and what date was it on?

From the sounds of the above and what I can interpret, the OP is using a third party to process this claim as opposed to going directly to BA - in which case this is likely the reason behind the delay. If that is the case OP, then there's unfortunately not much information anyone here can help with.

The details NWIFlyer has requested above would certainly be useful for any assistance (and ascertaining whether compensation would be due) - flight number, date of departure and confirmation whether it was operated by BA.

According to this website, 'legal.tlv' is a valid alias on the ba.com domain, so the OP may be dealing with BA directly and locally in Israel. If so, I can't offer much insight in to how long claims from that office might take. Certainly UK Customer Services are taking over a month for UK261 delay compensation based on the experience of a couple of colleagues who submitted claims at the end of June which are still pending.

I am dealing with BA directly.
the flight from Jfk was delayed because
the boarding started very lets and later the captain said that we are number 40
on the runway.
We were spoused to land at 6:30 at LHR
but we touched down at 7:45.
the flight to TLV departed at 8:00

The connecting team of BA was waiting with
the tickets for the next flight to Tel Aviv.
the new flight took of at 17:30.

I just ask: is there someone here that was dealing directly with BA as I do
and how much time it took to BA to investigate the case and transfer the money

thanks
