Managed to snag our first First on Avios!
We are booked on a reward flight using the BA premium voucher for a flight EDI-LHR-SEA-LHR-EDI. Was in J but had an alert set for First availability on the way back as we have a 4 hour layover in LHR and thought the CCR would be nice to have. Got an alert yesterday morning that there were two F seats, gave BA a call and managed to get them although it was a stessful 30 mins as the computer seemed to the take 10 mins to do anything! We've not had an email yet but on the app it shows us in row 1 although it still says club world and on the website it says First to assuming all has gone through.
Although I have flown Business in the old club world and been in the 1st galleries lounge my wife has never been in anything above Economy on long haul or any lounge above a business one so Club Suites outbound, First back and CCR on connection will be firsts for both of us!
We are on 777 with club suites, does anyone know if that also has the new first suite with doors?

Congrats! I also have an upcoming F redemption involving SEA though that is on the outbound from LHR. My understanding is that the 772 with club suites would not have the first with doors though I’m sure others will be along to give clarity on that!
enjoy the trip!

I think the 777-300 have the updated F (with huge IFE) and the 777-200 has the old F, which is now looking quite dated in my opinion.

Use expert flyer for your return journey to work out which 777 you are on.

The orginal J booking was 137500 avois plus £1740 in taxes and fees. When I was phoned I was told there was no additonal avios or fees to do the upgrade - I can only assume when I booked it originally it was peak and now it is off peak or something as usually I thought it would be about 30k extra avios

Congratulations on the upgrade! I also have a J booking for next year but an alert standing by for F. A tangental question - do you get a refund for paid seat selection if you upgrade to F (as seat selection is included?). I imagine not, as it's a voluntary upgrade but thought to enquire...

Hope you enjoy.
As an aside, I have paid F flights to SEA coming up in November. I noted it was a 777 and I was wondering myself whether it would be the 200 or 300.
Aeroroutes listed the following a few weeks back:
London Heathrow – Seattle eff 29OCT23 BA049/048 777-300ER replaces 787-10 (Overall 2 daily 777-300ER)
I am curious as to how you have ascertained it’s a 200 via the set map (presuming you are looking at the first cabin) as both show just the 8 seats?
Anyway, based on what is showing as above, I’m hoping that it will be the 300 that is flying this route.
Have a great trip!

i'm very curious about this, how can it be there is no difference in AVIOS? I thought peak/off-peak was a well established calendar set in stone, not something that could switch? Any other possible explanation?

Just enjoy the CCR, have a nice meal, get to the gate and enjoy the devil out of the left turn!!! As you enter the aircraft, they'll ask for your boarding pass and will escort you to your seats and that's a good time to say something about being excited to be in F for the first time. Ask the crew to take a minute to show you the handsets, etc. and that will also clue them that you are on your first, first trip. Now, I made that mistake (turning left, flying first) once about 15 years ago and it's very addictive!!!! Haven't turned right since.

I just don't get the "free" ticket costing GBP1740. And maybe that is as a US based traveler and programs here do not have YQ/YR (but LOTS more points)
