Cancellation at LHR today

Seems like lots of short haul cancellations today. My family is stuck at LHR due to LHR-CDG flight cancellation, no assistance, automatic rebooking, on your own for hotel, no luggage.

Anyone know what's going on? Eurostar completely booked. Any suggestions on other options? They are rebooked on 6.35pm flight tomorrow. What are the chances that things will normalize by tomorrow.

Do they want to get to Paris? Looks like there are flights earlier tomorrow to Brussels, Lyon, Luxembourg for example. Not sure if they'd be allowed a double hop via MAD or BCN on IB.

Flow restrictions were in effect this morning (32/60 from 0500 to 0800, then 36/60 from 0800 to 0900 and lately went back to normal). But similar restrictions were still in place in Europe.
