They took too much space on the densified A320/A321s, no longer in use on A319s.

I miss them a little bit too, it was always nice even on short flights. Plus meant the safety demo was done via screens.

How so? What is the ceiling space used for instead?

If you hold your mobile device to the window, the map should still update according to your flight progress

This is the way. It takes a little while, as when in airplane (sic) mode the phone can’t get its quick fix off the transmitters and must actually use GPS from the satellites. Hence the “hold it up to the window” - so it can see the sats. It works for a quick progress check though.

Which translated to BA speak, means:

In line with customer preference (since we are now a cheapo cost-cutting airline) we have removed them to enhance our customer’s experience (and primarily our bottom line).

The inflight WiFi at least shows flight duration and time remaining for free, which is better than nowt. I guess they could make some improvements to this so it’s similar to moving maps…

yes to me those are two very different things (better than nothing ok but definitely no replacement for maps). Many other airlines including u2 include the map as part of the free wifi contents.

Yes bring back the maps and the other flight info please. The Wifi info is too basic although I agree it is better than nothing (and nothing is what you get on a 319 with no Wifi).

I guess you are referring to Google Maps? That's a great idea - will try on Friday

Yes, this is what I use.

Agree it should be easy to enhance this to actually display where we are on a map, although I can take a rough guess based upon remaining time.

Oxygen masks, lights, air vents. Since they got more rows, there's less space for fancy stuff like foldable displays.

Lucky, I didn't get them on my recent A319 flights.
