New desks with power for those who wish to work in the CCR
There's now a section in the CCR just to the side of the formal dining area that contains some desks with - wait for it - power sockets for those who wish to work visiting. This will be helpful since the demise of the old boardroom which remains a sleeping area.
I've not noticed it before and I can't see a thread or any reference to it on this forum. Apologies if I've missed it.

What we really need is those free standing sound proof cubicals. those desks are right under a speaker - which loudly plays the new and improved CCR playlist, not ideal for work/calls.

This has been in place for some time and has been mentioned in the threads relating to Forty Winks. I'm trying to remember when they were installed, but it's more than 6 months, perhaps a year. I have a feeling that they were put in place after the repeated feedback from one individual well known in these parts, but I fear it's a bit too far removed from seat 1C for this tastes.

Yes - I use those desks lots. My favourite is the one furthest away in your photo. Long overdue to have that kind of option in the CCR. We haven’t all sold our businesses or retired in there!

I can't understand why I've never noticed them and struggled to access power on the terrace all this time

It's definitely not a place to make calls. The boardroom was only good for that if one was in there alone (which was the case a decent amount of time).

Yes I think maybe more than 6 months? If I trawl back through posts I am sure i could pinpoint a date. Maybe around Easter last year? Possibly even February.
You would be forgiven for missing them. They are in a dark corner of the lounge, and I think for the first few weeks didn’t have those desk lamps so you can imagine how bad it was.
Also as noted they are right under a speaker so the muzak volume there is even louder than elsewhere - so good luck making a call. In fact I have sometimes just put my noise cancelling headphones on to try and block it out so I could actually concentrate.
I won’t be as diplomatic as cws. They are a pretty s*** afterthought after BA decided to get rid of the boardroom as it was far more important to get money from Forty Winks (which no one asked for despite the usual BA rubbish about “we asked our customers…”, I have yet to find anyone who was). Clearly BA don’t think that people do actually want to work sometimes. Anyway this is the compromise. I find it bizarre that anyone set this up, stepped back, and thought to themselves “yeah, that looks ok”. They clearly have no clue what people want, or what is offered in comparable level lounges elsewhere. I think I was encouraged to put in a complaint as well by 1F.
The whole thing is an embarrassment. Anyway, apparently things may be improved soon.

I used it last April. Was actually happy to find it, but that said, the boardroom was much better, and while not perfect I could do a solid few hours work in there between connections. but those tables for a variety f obvious reasons really struggle for utility. Stops us complaining about the person who printed their thesis in the lounge though.....
Lack of work areas and power points still manages astound me

Yes, been there a while now but I agree I don’t recall much discussion on here. I used them today to charge my phone with the little block plug which is quite handy. No replacement for the boardroom that’s for sure but better than nothing I suppose (yes, that’s where we are at now!!).
I’ve often wondered if they could do something with getting power to the high tables as quite a lot of people work on laptops there.
