New BA safety video

Hello

I am sure other FTers were asked to have a look at the new BA safety video (I received a survey link from InSites Consulting this PM).

I actually quite like it, lots of familiar faces, and quite British covering all parts of society.

Not a bad attempt in my opinion. Maybe a bit long with almost 5min run time?

A 5-minute safety video is at least four minutes too long.

Does it follow a similar format to the previous Comic Relief videos pre-Covid?

I think the video is actually a bit 'cooler' than the previous videos, or at least tries to do so (in example, you have a few tough guys from/ in front of a social housing estate putting on the life vests).

Unfortunately I am super bad with names and I am not British so don't know as many as other would, but faces I've recognized:

Tom Kerridge (quite prominently)
Emma Raducanu
Little Simz
Steven Bartlett
Monica Galetti
A political commentator from ITV News (? - the Gentleman with glasses and slightly longer hair)
Oswald Boateng
+ some others who I didn't know, a rugby player, a comedian (I believe)

Yes, it is indeed Robert Peston. Strangely, when asked to put away his laptop he closes it down but leaves it on the extended tray table which of course would also need to be stowed for take off. Arghh!

It's not being launched yet. It's being tested using focus groups.

The problem with "cool" safety videos is that by the time they get to the bit about evacuating an aircraft safely the audience will have lost interest and gone back to their books/devices/music. Or they were so focused on identifying the celebrities that the entire message was lost.

The only thing I can say with a modicum of certainty is that this video will polarize opinion on FT with more people hating it than loving it.

+1 - I think the video is rather 'progressive'

Have a look through BA's privacy policy.

https://www.britishairways.com/en-us...privacy-policy

It's in there.

I take it this isn't the final version, as they have another filming day booked in for Wednesday (Feb 1st).
