A380 gates at LHR T5

We are flying LHR-MIA tomorrow and I am planning on going to the B Gate lounge. I assume that the dreaded A gate issue will not apply because the A380 will have dedicated gates. Is that a correct assumption? I recall an adage “Assumption without verification is the mother of chaos” so hopefully someone can confirm.

I am not sure they have ever used A10 for an A380, if it has happened it is very rare, but I assume you know just walk back if you need to get to T5A.

It is very likely to be a C gate, but very occasionally you may get a B gate.

I did have A10 when travelling on one of the LHR-FRA A380 flights, which was a novelty. It’s extremely rare though.

There are a few stands at T5B that can take an A380, but none of these gates have 3 jetbridges so wherever possible the A380s will use T5C. I would imagine the number of times per year that an A380 goes on T5B is probably in the very low single digits!

It does happen occasionally, but you’re right it’s rare. I dream of climbing the long steps up to one, but sadly hasn’t come true so far!

As a single data point, I saw a lot of them parked at the C gates earlier in the week.

I’m sure they’d use A10 if you’re flying on an A380 they know how much you like buses 😁

This is where they usually park, given it's the only part of the T5 campus with triple airbridge-equipped gates.

What gates in T5C do they correspond to? When I search for "T5 gates" in google, all I get are the ones with numbers C52-C66.
Or, was it in reference to gates in T5B where the A380 is used? (meaning, gates 44-47 in T5B)?
Thank you.

Yes, stands 544/5/6/7 translate to gates B44/5/6/7. They are the ones that can accept an A380 but don't have 3 airbridges, so seldom used.

T5B, not that the A380 uses them that often, it's more hypothetical. No gate numbers overlap in LHR terminals, so gates 52 and above can only belong to T5C or bus gates. The highest T5B gate is 48.
