SFO flight landed in OAK

SFO flight landed in OAK
Does this happen often?

We are in SFO waiting for the BA286 to LHR.

According to various trackers the flight has landed but there was no sign of the aircraft.

It transpires that the BA287 was diverted to OAK due to the weather. It has been very wet today in SFO. I assume this means a lack of slots as other than this the weather is OK.

At the moment the flight is showing as delayed 2.5 hours but I don’t know how much confidence we can have in that.

I wonder what they do with incoming passengers in OAK as I can’t imagine they have immigration staff to handle an A380.

SFO lounge not the best to be delayed in.

SFO has a traffic management program in effect for arrivals.

It doesn’t happen often.

OAK does have CBP capability that is used for processing arrival flights from at least Mexico. The SFO/OAK area has enough CBP employees that they should be able to manage this too at OAK.

Any word on BA bussing passengers and crew back and forth due to this?

Thought they might have diverted to OAK in midflight because they heard Norwegian was returning...

Lol. I’d forgotten about that flight.

I remember a few years ago a colleague asking why it was so cheap and explaining the purpose of it.

BA is still planning to fly OAK-SFO tonight.

Passenger on board
tweeted that they had two failed attempts to land at SFO before diverting to OAK.

They are still showing 1122etd but considering it seems passengers have to disembark I would think it will be 12-1230 by the time they turn it around.

Just landed. Last month 287 was similarly late, and I was flying out on 286. Staff told us minimum turnaround for the 380 was 2.5 hours. It was almost 3 hours.

Arrivals on the 10s tonight at SFO. Don't see that all that often either.
