5 Tier points short to retain Silver

I know this is probably asked quite a bit but BA have informed that if I get another 5 tier points before 31st Dec I can retain Silver status. Stay in Glasgow. Would have to be weekend thingy.
Any ideas ? Work Mon - Fri but finish early on a Friday !
Would BA perhaps give me 5 points as a courtesy if I asked nicely ?

Kind regards.

Literally any flight, anywhere, will get you 5 tier points or more: nothing could be easier. Just book the cheapest flight you can find.

LHR-DUB B2B return for ~£55 currently available would be your best bet in my view - Depends if silver is worth the money (Probably yes) and time (Maybe yes) to do that!

100% no! And given it's a reduced target I'm sure they won't wave any freebie retentions around come January for those who haven't made it.

But a quick Saturday afternoon bargain bucket HBO up to Manchester and Avios home won't stretch you too far, surely?

Possibly if you were 5 points away from the 600 level but I doubt it if you're 5 points away from the reduced threshold.

Sorry can see you're in Glasgow. I'd search for the cheapest possible outbound that gives you time to get a reward flight back. Weekends are more expensive and lower availability but if you can get an afternoon off...

Mon 12th Dec
BA1483 GLA-LHR 13.55 - 15.25 £55.82 Economy (O)
BA1494 LHR-GLA 20.05 - 21.35 16250 Avios + 50p (only Club Europe available, make the most of the lounge, see how much champagne you can drink on board and plan not to drive home!)

You've also got the option of FR to DUB,, a cheap BA ticket to LHR, and a redemption back to GLA.

I'd be doing this via discount OTAs, but sadly Crystal doesn't seem to be discounting any more.

OP has said it's to retain Silver so a Y return would probably be the best option to LON. Would make a suggestion that if you fancied a day in London for Xmas shopping in December Saturday 10th doesn't look terrible.

GLA-LGW 07:00-8:30 £45
LHR-GLA 18:05-19:35 £48

Unfortunately if you wanted to stay Saturday night it bumps the outbound to £147 which rules it out.

Sat 24th Dec might be your cheapest bet at a weekend to get a reasonable price one way and reasonable award availability the other way. At least one leg is popular on any given day.

BA1499 GLA-LHR 11.45 - 13.15 £98.82
BA1486 LHR-GLA 15.05 - 16.35 9750 Avios + 50p

Merry Christmas!

Fri 16th Dec

BA1489 GLA-LHR 16.00 - 17.25 £127.82 (V) (you can part pay up to £80 with Avios and still get your TPs)
BA1478 LHR-GLA 21.00 - 22.30 16250 Avios + 50p (Club)

You could easily spend that on a Friday night out with food and beverage in Glasgae and it wouldn't be anywhere near as much fun

Well over the top on price. Try

One way to Dublin | Google Flights GLA to DUB 0800-0900 10/12 £13 (Ryanair)

One way to London | Google Flights DUB to LHR 1040-1210 10/12 £17 (BA)

One way to Dublin | Google Flights LHR to DUB 1515-1645 10/12 £46.32 (BA)

One way to Glasgow | Google Flights DUB to GLA 2120-2220 10/12 £14 (Ryanair)

EDIT: Optimisations

DUB to LHR is available at Crystal for £39.93 - you can use that to generate a £20 price promise voucher to book the DUB to LHR. Note that both actual tickets are booked with BA, you just use Crystal to generate a lower price for the price promise.

The FR legs are available on Opodo prime (free 15 or 30 day sub but you MUST cancel it) for £5.37 and £4.99 respectively. Opodo play all sorts of games with browser ID, but you should get the cheap flight with a new browser.

So total of £56.68 with a bit of change back from the pp voucher, and some avios, plus 10 TP. If you don't want to dance with the Opodo devil, try skyscanner or momondo to see if there's an OTA at a lower price.

Really interested in this thread - I have just realised I am 15 tier points away from Silver with the reduced levels. I thought my flight to Madrid later this month would clinch it, but - my year will reset on 8th November. I can get to London in an hour for flights.

Any bright ideas?

Note, I don't know what the fare class is for that, if it's 5TP per leg you need something else. There is also a £101 fare on the 8th.
