…. Edit. Just a thought…..I’m inbound DOH- SOF on 20/11. I wonder if BA will let me route SOF-DOH-LHR - which would mean a B2B at SOF off and back on the QR flight? For those who’ve done B2B at SOF on a BA flight - would the logistics of doing it off a QR flight be any different?
I haven’t done the flight since, so no updated info on if that’s changed.

I’ve been inbound on DOH-SOF last year, had planned on going straight down to the lounge before flying out on BA. Everyone off the QR flight got directed to immigration. Got a stern finger point when I attempted to head towards the lounge. I’ve been told it’s because DOH arrivals aren’t considered clean where security is concerned.
I haven’t done the flight since, so no updated info on if that’s changed.

Tricky one, is taking a refund and rebooking elsewhere feasible? This will be by far the easiest option.
Otherwise, BA are unlikely to voluntarily rebook on any of the direct options for a schedule change. They will likely claim you can only choose between a refund, rebooking to alternative dates where they're still running, and alternative rebooking options that fall within their standard guidelines (i.e. in this scenario that'd be Oneworld - QR via DOH? - or possibly LH group, though I think the latter agreement may be only for disruption on the day?).
However this is not compliant with their UK261 obligation to rebook you either at the earliest opportunity or on another date of your choosing, "subject to comparable transport conditions". CAA guidelines suggest this implies a requirement to offer rebooking on other airlines if they cannot offer a comparable same-day alternative, and that seems to be giving a considerable degree of leeway to the airlines in my view.
I would engage with BA in good faith, giving them an opportunity to rebook you on any alternative direct flight the same day (e.g. FB). When/if you get the inevitable rejection/refusal, leave the booking as it is (i.e. don't accept the infeasible rebooking suggestion or take a refund) and send a Letter Before Claim to BA's legal address informing them of your intention to rebook on OAL and recover the cost from them, if they continue to refuse to honour your UK261 rebooking rights. That will put you in good stead if you do need to bring a CEDR/MCOL claim against them - you will have given them every opportunity to honour their obligations and avoid being liable for your expenses.
Then if it does come to it, rebook on OAL, ideally with screenshots of the likes of Google Flights to show that the price/times are reasonable based on what's available. Keep the receipts and submit your expenses claim to BA. BA may well refuse to process it until after the booked travel date (and TBH it's now too close to the travel date to be worth spending weeks/months arguing the toss over that). Keep screenshots of the confirmation page when you submit your claim, and the summary of what you sent.
You can then proceed to CEDR 8 weeks after submitting your claim, or once you have a "final response" email from BA. Alternatively or if CEDR rules against you, it's going to have to be resolved through MCOL (i.e. Court).
As you can see, forcing through your rebooking rights by doing so manually and claiming it back is the far trickier option. You also need to make sure any further sectors in your SOF booking aren't cancelled off for being a "no show" (though a non-accepted rebooking should remain on "HK" status in BA's system, meaning this shouldn't happen).

Edit: Spoke to BAH who were happy to route me SOF-AMS-LON on KLM on 21/11!
Edit to the edit : I didn’t book the AMS option yesterday as I was cogitating various options. Today, when trying to book that routing I was firmly told by a different agent that that routing is not allowed! And mysteriously, all notes which yesterday’s agent was going to add to the booking are no longer there!

More data points
OH and I flew back to SOF on Sunday at the end of our TP run to the States. This time we stopped in Sofia for a 24 hours flying visit so I have two more data points.
Both planes came into gate B7 which is non-Schengen, so a B2B is straightforward on these occasions - up the ramp and wait, having told the person greeting the plane what you're doing.
But because we were going into the City we experienced what would happen if the plane were on a remote stand instead of a gate.
From the gate you walk down to a bus loading area and are bussed to passport control, just as you would be from a remote stand. Passport control is a real challenge if you do not have an EU passport (electronic gates) as they were taking 2 minutes per person and allowing people to jump the queue. You need to be at the front of the bus behind the driver ideally so that you would be in the first couple of people into passport control. Then a quick dash through baggage reclaim and back up through security, which is of course pot luck, and a fast walk to the gate...
The plane seems to be on the ground for about 40 minutes, so it will be tight if the plane is at a remote stand, but because all passengers would have to be bussed to board the plane it should be doable although at the expense of an increased heart rate!
But make sure you're first off the inward bound bus!

Thats good to hear
And as soon as I can remember where I put my yellow Flyertalk tags, I'll be on one of these ease of IDing to others here as I wouldn't entirely feel comfy doing it alone unless I was shown first

Does anyone know if indeed it's remotely possible to do MAN-LHR-SOF return B2B?
My other half is thinking of doing this to get Concierge status with EI by crediting the TPs as TCs in Aerclub.
Cheers for any advice/ hints.

But it's not guaranteed to work as they may just bus you directly off the plane.

Last time I did one of these it was before the changes. In January I booked up four at Ł209 each and the first one is next week.
Just checking it’s all still working as above; tell the crew and then some poor agent at SOF lets you through a door at the top.

I'm doing the same this coming Monday 4th Nov. I'll report back.
I was chatting with KARFA last week and we concur that as long as the airbridge connects to the aircraft you can just walk up it and wait at the top by the glass doors through which boarding passengers will enter. Someone will see you and should let you through. I would still mention it to the CSM though so that they can alert ground staff. You must hope that the CSM is not in an unhelpful frame of mind. One previous poster wrote that the CSM told him that they would not alert ground staff. Nearly all will help you though.
The danger here though is that if the airbridge isn't connected you have to board the bus at the bottom of the steps and go the long way around - fast! This is rare but did happen on one of Karfa's flights recently although, fortunately, he wasn't on a B2B.
If you are forced onto the bus you need to be at the front behind the driver to be able to get off first - see helpful post 604 above regarding this.

I did a B2B recently and the glass door still works. Didn't mention anything to crew but ground staff happily helped me. Group 0 boarding too because of waiting behind the boarding counter basically.
