What does BA Silver get you on a Qatar Flight?

Hi

Given the confusing nature of call centres I though I would ask here as the folk are more knowledgeable.

I am currently BA Silver and am looking at booking Qatar flights through Doha (via Qatar not BA website).

If I purchase the Business Light ticket it doesn't give Lounge Access or Free seat selection.

However, does the BA Silver (assuming it is linked with the booking) get me a free seat selection.

Also does it get any One World lounge access in Doha as the flight has a 4h30 stop over but I didn't really want to pay a couple of hundred Euros more for the lounge access ticket if I can get lounge access through BA SIlver.

TIA

Yes, you will get lounge access and seat selection by virtue of your status. You use the Gold lounge; their more prestigious al-Mourjan business lounge is not a oneworld lounge and is only available based on class of travel.

Yes, assuming the guest is departing on a oneworld flight that day.

If I was going through DOH I’d likely go for the ticket that includes the lounge access as QR has separate lounges for status holders which are not as good as their proper lounges. This is also the case at LHR

Not really - I prefer using the Platinum lounge in DOH even when flying QR J.

At LHR I believe you will be sent to the Plaza Premium lounge if not flying business or first.

OP is BAEC Silver, so wouldn’t have access to the Platinum lounge in DOH.

Amazingly... not everyone keeps their "avatar" up to date in real time. And the OP literally said, in writing...

Not sure how much more clear that could be...

Why is that? The Platinum Lounge is ok but I can't imagine choosing it over Al Mourjan.

I believe Qatar has opened some new OW lounges in Doha.https://thepointsguy.com/news/new-qa...rport-lounges/

There is one for Sapphire members. Definitely a no on the AM lounge, they probably wouldn't even let you up the escalator. I saw someone who'd upgraded to business online at check-in and they were turned away as it doesn't include the lounge. As for Heathrow, I think you'll be sent to the new OW lounge which just opened, too?

EDIT: https://simpleflying.com/qatar-airwa...athrow-lounge/ New LHR OW lounge talked about here. Open to Sapphire and Emerald.

Those are the ones that are being referred to upthread. The Gold and the Platinum oneworld lounges just across from gate A1 at DOH.
