security or not on connection?
I haven't connected the same day at LHR for years so have a couple of questions.
If arriving on a domestic and following flight connections, do you end up going through security again?
Same question again but when arriving from DUB?
Thank you.

No security if you arrive off a UK domestic, just a BP check. From DUB, or indeed JER, you are funnelled through to international flight connections and therefore you do need to go through security again.

There is no requirement to re-do security on a purely UK trip, so NCL to anywhere at T5 means no security. NCL to anywhere at T3 does mean security due to the mixing with other passengers. There is always a security check after arriving outside the UK, that includes Dublin, so you are best to go landside at T5 from DUB and then go through main security there from landside.

Checked baggage doesn't matter. And going landside is quicker.

The queues for security in the First Wing are shorter than elsewhere in T5, if that is not a little obvious.

Horses for courses really. You have two options, immigration, landside, and north/south fast track, or go through connections and then up to security. The latter route will not involve immigration so that should save some time, but a lot will depend on how busy connections looks vs how busy immigration looks. Not sure I would say there is a clear answer here tbh. Caveat would be if you are close to conformance you should go via the connections route and not go landside.

Thanks. Yes, an INT -> INT connection. If only there was a way of knowing in Flight Connections what the lines/wait times are like at connections/landside before having to make the decision. Assuming conformance is not an issue, will flip a coin to decide!
