Cancelled flight reinstated
I was booked to travel on the BA 2777 from JER to LHR, departing at 20:05 this evening (31st), and travelling on to ARN on the morning of 1st April. I had notification last night that the flight was cancelled, and accepted rebooking onto BA 2767 on the morning of 1st April. New itinerary gets me to ARN about four hours late.
It now appears that the BA 2777 has been reinstated. It is showing on-time again on BA.com. I suspect this may be because two flights arrived into JER last night but all flights outbound from JER were cancelled, so there is a ‘spare’ plane in JER which can form the flight.
There don’t appear to be any seats available on it, and I can’t switch back to it in MMB. Would anyone with ExpertFlyer access mind taking a look for me? Puts me in an odd position with EC261, though I will argue that regardless of whether BA 2777 operates, I was delayed more than three hours by BA changing my flight and thus am entitled to compensation in any event.
I would prefer to get my seat on BA 2777 back but don’t really hold out any hope of being able to contact BA to manage that. Guess I could turn up at JER and see what happens but doubt there are any seats left on it. Booking was all in CE.

(This also puts me in a strange position with travel insurance since I have a non-refundable room at the Sofitel for tonight and presumably they will check if the flight has been cancelled when I claim and conclude that it hasn’t been…)

I wouldn’t worry about insurance/EC261 even if it is reinstated. All you need is evidence that BA notified you the flight was cancelled.

They’re now selling tickets on it again! Think I’m going to stick with tomorrow’s though - MMB not interested in letting me change back…

In the end (and given current response times I have to say unexpectedly) BA replied to a DM on Twitter. A very helpful agent held seats for me on the original itinerary and got in touch with me to confirm that the original flight had been reinstated and to check that I wanted to switch back. All dealt with in an hour.
It seemed from speaking to the crew the following night that the aircraft had arrived in Jersey with the hope it could still operate a delayed flight out on Wednesday night. Once it became clear that wasn't possible, there was a spare plane in Jersey, and luckily for me the evening departure was the one they chose to reinstate.
The plane didn't seem especially full which leads me to suspect that a lot of people had gone to OLCI on Wednesday night, saw the flight had been cancelled, and changed their plans accordingly - they may well never have known that the flight actually operated. Suspect that the people left were a mixture of those who hadn't checked in online until Thursday (or chose to check in at JER) and may have never known about the cancellation, and a few like myself who'd been able to switch back to it.
As mentioned in the other thread, no catering was offered but a £10 voucher given for the cafe at the terminal. Crew were especially proactive with drinks. Ended up waiting about 40-50 minutes for a gate to become available once we landed at LHR.
Classic BA experience in a lot of ways - a lot of system trouble mostly self-inflicted but made up for by some very good individual service from the Twitter team and the crew.
